There is always so much to tell about a city, that is why I separate my articles into 3 very useful parts:
Part 1: Top Places to See in Krakow
Part 2: Best Places to Eat in Krakow
Part 3: Transport and Accommodation in Krakow
Accommodation
Krakow is generally great for a budget tourist, it has a lot of affordable accommodations, sightseeings and food. It shouldn’t be a problem to get a room in the centre of Krakow at an affordable price.
Where we stayed: Klimatyczny Apartament
Klimatyczny Apartament is a small studio a short minute walk away from the central street of Krakow, with lots of cafes and shops. The place is perfect if you are staying there as a couple and has everything you need. However, when booking I thought the place had two rooms as there are two different bedroom pictures on booking.com. Well, 4 of us were a little bit shocked to find a studio with a bed and a sofa very close together. Oh well, at least it was super cheap 😀
Price: 30€/night (8€/person for 4 people)
At a similar price there are many great apartments right in the city of Krakow, I really recommend you to have a look on booking.com for the best hotels in Krakow available for your stay. Look for apartments next to the Market Square to be at the heart of Krakow:
Transportation
Transport from Krakow airport to city centre: there are three options to get to the centre of the city from Krakow’s airport: bus, train and taxi. The train station is right at the airport and a one-way ticket costs 9 ZLT (2 €). The journey by train takes only 20 minutes to the Kraków Główny train station, however the train departs every 30 minutes so you might have to wait a little bit. Buses take even longer, the journey is around 40 minutes and the bus to the main train station leaves every hour. However, it is also the cheapest option, one way ticket on the bus n.208 or 252 will only cost you 4 ZLT (1 €).
My favourite options is taking an Uber, which is very affordable in Krakow. The journey will take around 20 minutes and you can go to your address directly. We booked a cab to the airport in the morning and the ride was only 30ZLT (7 €), which was even cheaper than taking a train for 4 people.
Krakow Public Transport: Krakow is a relatively small city, so we haven’t really used public transport there as we love walking. However, some places like Oscar Schindler’s factory are a bit further away, so you might prefer to take a tram or a bus there. Tickets start at 3.4 ZLT(0.80 €) for a 20 minute ride, 4.6 ZLT (1 €) for 50 minutes, and 15ZLT(3.50€) for 24 hours. Also, when you start your journey, don’t forget to stamp the ticket
