Food in London is amazing, with any cuisine you can think off. However, when you are not careful it is easy to end up with a huge bill after a night out, as London restaurants can get pretty expensive. This is why I created this list of my favourite places in London to eat in, that are easy to reach and offer yummy food at affordable prices. I also highly recommend to check out the street food on the London markets mentioned in my Part 1.
There is always so much to tell about a city, that is why I separate my articles into 3 very useful parts:
Part 1: 10 BEST Things To Do in London
Part 2: Best Places to Eat in London
Part 3: Transportation & Accommodation in London
London Food
1. Franco Manca – very trendy, new modern chain of restaurants across London offering sourdough pizza from stone ovens starting at only 5£ (6€).
2. 49 Cafe – there’s one thing everyone must try in London: English Breakfast. Make sure to check out 49 Cafe which is a small English cafe serving authentic breakfast to locals.
3. Pizza Pilgrims – another amazing hub for pizza lovers, serving Naples pizza baked at 500° with a fluffy, big crust. Prices range from 6 to 10.5£ (7-13€).
4. Kingly Court – this is another area to explore different cuisines, and it has a really nice outdoor seating area where you can chat with friends or meet new people.
5. Soho
Soho is just a huge area of many different, modern cuisines combined together on one street. So when you want to explore different cuisines, make sure to stroll along Soho. From my experience, most of the restaurants in soho are really good. There are a lot of good London’s Japanese and Chinese restaurants here. Also, when I am in the area I always grab Chinese buns (Baos) at Bun House in Soho.
6. Nandos – of course Nandos has to be on my budget list. This place is all about chicken, you can get a plain chicken or have it in a wrap/burger with 7 different levels of sauces to top it on with. I’ve been a loyal fan of Nandos since my high school, as they serve amazing chicken with sides below 10£ (12€). It is self-service, so you should order yourself at the counter, and the food always comes fast to your table. It is quite a special chain for the UK, so if you have never been there – make sure to try, you won’t regret it.
7. Pret
This is one of my favourite spots to grab a healthy, quick lunch (It is also the only food I eat in the airport :)). Pret serves fresh food daily, including salads, sandwiches, soups and smoothies. It also grew very big in recent years, so you will be able to find a Pret nearly on every corner in central London. Make sure to try a salad with crab and avocado (6£ /7€), it is my absolute favourite there!
8. SOHO Coffee Co. – for breakfast with a view to St Paul’s Church, head here. Here you can enjoy a cup of coffee or a warm apple crumble for breakfast.
9. China Town – china town is honestly not my favourite place to eat, I find it quite touristic and overcrowded. However, I think it is cool to walk around here and I do love the Chinese bakeries there where you can grab different buns or cakes. They are super affordable ad you can get a fresh bun for under 2£ (3€).
10. Laduree – definitely heaven for all the sweet lovers out there. You can get a take away box with macaroons or sit down in a cafe with a piece of cake and a hot chocolate to go along. They also serve breakfast and other food, however I have never tried it as I find the price tag a bit high.
For a treat dinner:
All the places mentioned above are great for tourists on a budget, however if you want to treat yourself or want to have a romantic dinner in London I do have my all time favourite places too. In my opinion they are one of the best restaurants in London and serve amazing food:
1. Nobu – Nobu is my all time favourite restaurant, which I have visited several times in London and in Dubai. Nobu offers modern Japanese cuisine, with the best sushi I have ever tried. Also my all time favourite is the signature black cod dish, which I can talk about forever.
2. Gaucho – If you are a steak lover, then you will definitely love Gaucho, an Argentinian steakhouse. You can choose the cut of meat before they prepare it for you and they fry it according to your wish.
3. Ballie Ballerson – this one is a bar, rather than a restaurant, however it is quite unique for London. You can jump to a floor filled with a million of balls and just enjoy your night.
